tTech Limited partners with Grace & Staff Foundation to award top student essay writers
tTech Limited, a managed IT services provider based in Jamaica, partnered with the Grace and Staff Community Development Foundation for its annual essay competition.
The official awards ceremony took place at tTech’s offices on 73 Harbour Street in Kingston on July 19. The competition aimed to give local youth a platform to express their perspectives and opinions on crucial issues affecting their well-being while enhancing their writing skills. First Global also joined as a partner in this initiative.
The essay theme was “Children Need Your Love and Protection: Show Us You Care,” and students from primary to secondary levels in Kingston, St. Andrew, St. Catherine, St. James, Westmoreland, and Clarendon submitted 20 impressive essays, ranging from250-300 words.
Anthony Riley won the first-place award in the high school category, while Shanae Banton secured the top spot in the primary school category. Both winners were rewarded with tablets courtesy of tTech Limited, while other awardees received certificates and various gifts.
The evening’s prevailing theme revolved around self-belief and perseverance in the face of challenges, as reflected in many insightful essays submitted by the students and echoed by tTech.
Marsha Bucknor, tTech’s sales and marketing manager, explained the company’s decision to participate and stressed the importance of the initiative.
She said, “tTech has always been devoted to supporting the youth and communities in Jamaica, especially in downtown Kingston, our home. We take pride in providing opportunities for the youth to overcome their circumstances.”
Bucknor added, “Over the years, this initiative has had a profound impact on the lives of these children, allowing us to gain valuable insights into their perspectives. We continually seek ways to demonstrate our care, just as many of the children expressed in their essays. That’s why we are immensely proud to be part of this initiative and remain committed to supporting the Grace and Staff Foundation in their commendable efforts.”
tTech’s collaboration with the Grace and Staff Community Development Foundation, the outreach arm of GraceKennedy, for this initiative spans eight years and aligns perfectly with the company’s long-standing mission of engaging with and improving the community.
